It is the news that has shocked the country. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, two Hollywood A-list stars who have been giving the world relationship inspiration for over a decade, have called it quits.
Nationwide, the average length of a marriage that ends in divorce is nine years. Brad and Angelina lasted only two years, despite being together for 12.
Deemed “Bradgelina” by the press, the couple had six children — three biologically and three adopted — from Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam. The pair met after working together on the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith back in 2004.
While the couple may look as though they were living the dream marriage, sources close to the couple reveal their life together wasn’t all that pretty.
After months of mounting tension between the pair, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences.
“Things built and built over time – it wasn’t any one thing,” a source close to the actress explains to People. “She’s loved this man for several years, and [divorce] is not something you do impulsively.”
However, new reports have shown the filling came the day after a heated Bradgelina dispute on a private jet. Pitt allegedly became verbally abusive and physical with one of his children and is now under investigation by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
To add fuel to the fire, rumors have come out stating Pitt was having an affair with Marion Cotillard, his co-star on the up-coming film Allied. The actress has since denied the claims.
Meanwhile, it looks as if Jolie has moved on. Sources have revealed she has focused her efforts on developing a career as a film director and producer, while holding a position as a special envoy for the United Nations.
Pitt is keeping to himself and is worried for the well-being of his children at this time. Jolie has filed for primary custody.
